When it comes to your facilities, whether your business is retail, restaurant, office services or fitness, first impressions are everything. People entering your space for the first time, often don’t know anything about you. They don’t know you are one of the best businesses in the industry that provides the benefits they need. Nor will they find this out until after using your goods or services for a period of time.

Each person entering your space makes a conscious and/or subconscious judgement about the strength and quality of your business based on its physical appearance.  Their decision to utilize your goods or services (or work for you) is greatly impacted by this initial impression.  Therefore, ensure the outward appearance of your space reflects the inward quality of your business.

In addition to creating positive impressions with customers, your physical space also impacts the performance of your employees.  Show your employees you value them by providing a positive work environment.  Herb Kelleher, co-founder and former CEO of Southwest Airlines, often stated his main goal was to take care of his employees.  If they’re happy, the rest of the business thrives.

Strive to create and maintain a clean, uncluttered and aesthetically pleasing environment. Make it inviting and welcoming. It should look alive and thriving.

While having an incredible facility does not guaranty success, it definitely increases your odds.
